2025 crushing dates announced – no date for Rarawai, Ba mill released

The Sugar Industry Tribunal has confirmed that Fiji’s 2025 crushing season will begin on June 11 at Lautoka mill and June 17 at Labasa mill. Growers should begin harvesting and cane delivery one day prior. No start date has been announced for the Rarawai (Ba) mill. The Tribunal will assess and announce mill closure dates in September.

The Sugar Industry Tribunal has announced the commencement date of crushing at Lautoka and Labasa mills.

There is no date made public for the Rarawai mill.

The Lautoka mill start its 2025 crushing season on June 11 while Labasa will commence on June 17.

The Tribunal said the decision was made following receipt of a submission from the Fiji Sugar Corporation and after consulting the Chief Executive of the Sugar Cane Growers Council.

Growers in the relevant mill areas should begin harvesting and delivery of cane a day before.

The Tribunal said it will announce in September the expected date of termination of crush at each of the two (2) mills as per Regulation 4.8 of the Master Award after reviewing the harvesting and crushing performance of each mill.

Recently, discussion within the sugar industry was for only two mills to operate in Fiji.

We are seeking more information from the Sugar Tribunal on the crushing at the Ba mill.
