7 sugar mills continue sugarcane crushing operations in Meerut division

As the 2023-24 sugarcane crushing season in Meerut division draws to a close, nine out of 16 mills have ceased operations. Only seven mills remain operational, including Daurala, Nanglamal, and Mawana. Deputy Cane Commissioner Rajesh Mishra notes successful progress, with 14.82 million quintals of sugarcane crushed, yielding 1.68 million quintals of sugar. Dr. Dushyant Kumar confirms two closed mills and four operational ones in Meerut district, emphasizing continued operation based on cane availability.

Meerut: The sugarcane crushing season 2023-24 is nearing its end. Out of the 16 sugar mills in Meerut division, nine have already closed operations. Now, only seven sugar mills are crushing sugarcane, reported Live Hindustan.

The crushing season began in October-November 2023. During the ongoing season, the mills in Kinauni, Sakoti, Simbhaoli, Brajnanathpur, Malkapur, Anupshahr, Bulandshahr, Sabitgarh, and Agota have stopped operations. At present, only the mills in Daurala, Nanglamal, Mawana, Mohiuddinpur, Modinagar, Bagpat, and Ramala are operational for crushing.

Deputy Cane Commissioner Rajesh Mishra stated that this year’s crushing season is progressing successfully. Dr Dushyant Kumar, the District Cane Officer of Meerut, mentioned that two sugar mills in district, Kinouni and Sakauti, have stopped crushing, while four mills are still operational. Mills will continue to operate until there is sugarcane available for crushing in the fields.

Meanwhile, the mills in the district have crushed 14.82 million quintals of sugarcane, producing 1.68 million quintals of sugar so far.
