UPSMA, WBgroup discusscane irrigation
Lucknow: The World Resources Group of the World Bank
and the UP Sugar Mill Association (UPSMA) on Wednesday
held a meeting to discuss the issue of micro irrigation for
sustainable sugarcane under UP Pragati Agri Water
Accelerator Programme.
The two sides discussed different perspectives and
dimensions to develop sustainable micro irrigation model
for the overall development and benefit of the sugarcane
farmers in the state.
Programme seeks to provide large-scale intervention in
over 38 districts of the state based on present
prioritization criteria.
The UPSMA said in a statement said that the newly
established UP Micro Irrigation Plan (UP-MIP) is expected
to monitor and enhance the adoption of micro irrigation
significantly, improving incomes of small and marginal
farmers in Uttar Pradesh. tnn
