Government, sugarcane growers and sugar mills sign agreement for a new period of the biofuels program

The Ministry of Hydrocarbons and Energy and the sugarcane and sugarcane sectors signed an agreement this Tuesday that improves the conditions of the price of anhydrous ethanol (Bs 4.94 per liter) and establishes an increase in the purchase of more than 200 million liters in 2024 , within the framework of the biofuels program.

“We have reached an agreement for the next three years that allows us to establish security mechanisms for this sector and guarantees planning for the development of the industry,” said the Minister of Hydrocarbons and Energy, Franklin Molina, at the conclusion of the sixth round of negotiations. . The authority explained that this agreement allows two important aspects for the country, the first is import substitution and the second is to boost the regional and national economy. “It is a price that satisfies the producing sector and allows us to work, strengthen the control mechanisms and make several of the demands they have viable,” he added.

In this context, the president of YPFB, Armin Dorgathen, highlighted the importance of continuing the biofuels program. In his statements, he highlighted the strategic importance of ethanol as a key element in the import substitution process. He also stressed that biodiesel, whose production is scheduled to begin in approximately two weeks, will play a crucial role in this initiative.

In another perspective, Óscar Alberto Arnés, president of the National Commission of Sugar Cane Producers of Bolivia (Concabol), expressed his satisfaction with the recently reached agreement and dispelled any uncertainty in relation to compliance with the points established in the agreement.

Arnés highlighted Molina’s management with optimism. “In the last three years of the Minister’s administration, we have experienced 90% compliance, which demonstrates an effective and constant commitment to our interests,” he said.
