Ryots condemn sugar minister’s statement
Mysuru: District unit activists of Karnataka Rajya Raita Sangha and Hasiru Sene on Wednesday protested by blocking Mysuru-Nanjangud Road near APMC junction condemning the statement made by sugar minister Shivanand Patil on farmers.
They shouted slogans against the minister and accused him of insulting the farmers. They also criticised the minister for issuing such callous statements.
They asked chief minister Siddaramaiah to direct his cabinet colleagues to stop issuing statements against farmers.
The protesters said that farmers demand compensation from the government, seek its intervention only when they suffer crop loss caused by vagaries of nature like drought, rain fury and floods.
The protesters demanded the minister apologise for his statement.
