USDA: US Exports 1.43 Billion Gallons Of Ethanol In 2023
The U.S. exported 155.64 million gallons of ethanol and 992,827 metric tons of distillers grains in December, according to data released by the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service on Feb. 7. Exports of both products were up.
The 155.64 million gallons of ethanol exported in December was up when compared to both the 115.94 million gallons exported the previous month and the 72.22 million gallons exported in December 2022.
The U.S. exported ethanol to more than three dozen countries in December. Canada was the top destination for U.S. ethanol exports in December at 43.62 million gallons, followed by the U.K. at 25.98 million gallons and India at 20.49 million gallons.
The value of U.S. ethanol exports reached $366.14 million in December, up from $232.11 million in November and $231.97 million in December of the previous year.
Total ethanol exports for 2023 reached 1.43 billion gallons at a value of $3.82 billion, compared to 1.31 billion gallons exported in 2022 at a value of $3.7 billion.
The 992,827 metric tons of distillers grains exported in December was up when compared to both the 829,911 metric tons exported the previous month and the 876,115 metric tons exported in December of the previous year.
The U.S. exported distillers grains to approximately 40 countries in December. South Korea was the top destination for U.S. distillers grains exports during the month at 174,282 metric tons, followed by Mexico at 158,880 metric tons and Indonesia at 88,164 metric tons.
The value of distillers grains exports reached $284.02 million in December, up from $229.08 million the previous month and $274.97 million in December 2022.
Total distillers grains exports for 2023 reached nearly 10.81 million metric tons at a value of $3.3 billion, compared to 10.97 million metric tons exported in 2022 at a value of $3.39 billion.
