Truck Laden With Around 500 Wheat Bags Stolen, 3 Members Of Gang Arrested
Ludhiana rural police have apprehended three members of a wheat-stealing gang, recovering 450 out of 500 stolen wheat bags and a tralla used in the crime. Raju Sahni, Ravinder Kumar, and Anil Kumar, residents of Choti Haibowal and Mullanpur, were arrested, while another member, Gopi, remains at large. The stolen goods were traced following a tip-off, leading to the recovery of the vehicle and wheat bags.
Ludhiana: Ludhiana rural police claimed to have busted a gang engaged in stealing wheat with the arrest of three of its members. Police recovered 450 of 500 wheat bags allegedly stolen by them and a heavy vehicle (tralla) in which the bags were loaded. The arrested accused have been identified as Raju Sahni of Choti Haibowal, Ravinder Kumar and Anil Kumar of Mullanpur and Gopi of the same area, who is at large.Addressing mediapersons in Jagraon on Friday, SSP Ludhiana Rural Navneet Singh Bains said that Pawan Kumar, who has the contract of wheat lifting from the grain market in Jodhan area, said that he got 500 bags of wheat in his truck from the commission agent’s shop in Jodhan grain market on April 30. He added that the driver, Paramjit Singh Billa of Jalandhar Bypass, parked the truck at the cattle feed factory of commission agent Rakesh Kumar in Jodhan and went to rest. The next day, when Paramjit looked for the vehicle, he did not find it. The police official added that they received a tip-off that the accused, who had stolen the truck, were going to Sarabha from Gujjarwal in a Maruti car and arrested them. On Thursday, police recovered the vehicle with 450 bags of wheat from the accused. One of them, Gopi of Mullanpur area, is yet to be arrested. Police said that Ravinder has eight cases registered against him while Anil has one case registered against him. tnn
