Hapur: Farmers demand to clear pending cane dues

Hapur: In protest against the non-payment of dues for the 2023-24 sugarcane season by Simbhaoli and Brajnathpur sugar mills, the Bhartiya Kisan Union (Non-political) stated protest on Thursday, reported Live Hindustan.

They warned of an agitation if farmers’ payments were not made. District President Pawan Hoon stated that Simbhaoli and Brajnathpur sugar mills are in the district, with Brajnathpur sugar mill owing around ₹115 crore to sugarcane farmers. However, no payments have been made to the farmers so far, causing them to struggle financially. Farmers are facing difficulties in paying their children’s school fees and managing wedding expenses.

Hoon warned that if the payments were not made by both mills, they would be compelled to protest. Present at the occasion were Manoj Tomar, Rajendra Gurjar, Kattar Singh, Radhelal Tyagi, Monu Tyagi, Rajveer Bhati, Ravi Bhati, Anil Hoon, Sanjay Tyagi, and others.
