Govt permits to import 49,000 tonnes boiled rice
The government permits 30 entities to import 49,000 tonnes of boiled rice and 34,000 tonnes of atap rice into Bangladesh. The Ministry of Food issued a circular stipulating that the rice must be marketed by April 25 and cannot be repackaged under the importers’ names. The circular aims to regulate rice imports and ensure transparency in the market.
The government has allowed 30 organisations and individuals to import 49,000 tonnes of boiled rice (except aromatic rice) and 34,000 tonnes of atap rice into the country.
The Ministry of Food issued a circular in this regard on Thursday.
According to the circular, the importers have to market the rice in Bangladesh by 25 April.
The imported rice cannot be repackaged in the name of the organisations rather must be sold in imported sacks, it added.
