EIA: Ethanol Production Up Slightly, Stocks Down 1%, Exports Down 42%
Fuel ethanol production in the United States saw a slight increase for the week ending May 31, averaging 1.072 million barrels per day, up by 4,000 barrels per day compared to the previous week. Stocks dipped by nearly 1%, totaling 23.052 million barrels. However, exports took a hit, dropping by 42% to an average of 123,000 barrels per day. Despite this, ethanol exports were up by 26,000 barrels per day compared to the same week last year.
U.S. fuel ethanol production was up slightly the week ending May 31, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration on June 5. Stocks of fuel ethanol were down nearly 1%. Exports remained substantial but were down 42% when compared to the previous week.
Fuel ethanol production averaged 1.072 million barrels per day the week ending May 31, up 4,000 barrels per day when compared to the 1.068 million barrels per day of production reported for the previous week. When compared to the same week of last year, production for the week ending May 31 was up 36,000 barrels per day.
Weekly ending stocks of fuel ethanol fell to 23.052 million barrels the week ending May 31, down 155,000 barrels when compared to the 23.207 million barrels of stocks reported for the previous week. When compared to the same week of last year, stocks for the week ending May 31 were up 104,000 barrels.
Exports of fuel ethanol averaged 123,000 barrels per day the week ending May 31, down 89,000 barrels per day when compared to the 212,000 barrels per day of exports reported for the previous week. When compared to the same week of last year, ethanol exports were up 26,000 barrels per day. No fuel ethanol imports were reported for the week ending May 31.
