USDA: US Ethanol Exports Top 154 Million Gallons In May
In May, the U.S. exported 154.39 million gallons of ethanol and 1.01 million metric tons of distillers grains, according to USDA data. Ethanol exports, though down from April’s 214.2 million gallons, were up from 111.98 million gallons in May 2023. The value reached $332.99 million. Distillers grains exports also rose from April’s 970,164 metric tons. Total exports for the first five months of 2024 reached 816.89 million gallons of ethanol and 4.93 million metric tons of distillers grains.
The U.S. exported 154.39 million gallons of ethanol and 1.01 million metric tons of distillers grains in May, according to data released by the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service on July 3. Exports of both products were up when compared to the same period of last year.
The 154.39 million gallons of ethanol exported in May was down when compared to the 214.2 million gallons exported the previous month, but up from the 111.98 million gallons exported in May 2023.
The U.S. exported ethanol to approximately 34 countries in May. Canada was the top destination for U.S. ethanol exports at 59.73 million gallons, followed by the Philippines at 16.02 million gallons and South Korea at 13.02 million gallons.
The value of U.S. ethanol exports reached $332.99 million in May, down from $477.09 million in April, but up from $318.07 million in May of last year.
Total U.S. ethanol exports for the first five months of 2024 reached 816.89 million gallons at a value of $1.82 billion, compared to 573.25 million gallons exported during the same period of 2023 at a value of $1.6 billion.
The 1.01 million metric tons of distillers grains exported in May was up from both the 970,164 metric tons exported the previous month and the 965,071 metric tons exported in May 2023.
The U.S. exported distillers grains to approximately 43 countries in May. Mexico was the top destination for U.S. distillers grains exports at 198,438 metric tons, followed by South Korea at 114,029 metric tons and Indonesia at 84,884 metric tons.
The value of U.S. distillers grains exports reached $262.97 million in May, up from $262.52 million the previous month, but down from $321.18 million in May of last year.
Total distillers grains exports for the first five months of this year reached 4.93 million metric tons at a value of $1.37 billion, compared to 4.15 million metric tons exported during the same period of last year at a value of $1.37 billion.
