Oil industry ends fight with ethanol developers to battle EV mandates

Mike Sommers, president and CEO of the American Petroleum Institute, reveals a shift in industry dynamics. After decades of conflict over biofuels like ethanol, the oil and gas sector and biofuels producers are now united in opposing electric vehicle mandates from the Biden administration. Sommers, in an interview with Radio Iowa, described this newfound alliance as the end of a ‘cold war’ between the industries, now collaborating to advocate for liquid fuels.

After feuding for decades, the leader of the American Petroleum Institute says the oil and gas industry has a shared mission with biofuels producers. They’re working together to fight electric vehicle mandates created by the Biden administration.

Sommers was interviewed by Radio Iowa and indicated the ‘cold war’ between ethanol and corn and oil and gas has ended and the industries are united to fight for liquid fuels.
