Mysuru: Karnataka State Sugarcane Growers Association president Hallikerehundi Bhagaraj announced on Thursday that farmers plan to hold a black flag protest against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Mysuru district minister HC Mahadevappa during their visit to offer bagina at Kabini and KRS reservoirs, reports Times of India.

Speaking to reporters, Bhagaraj expressed frustration with the state government’s failure to address their demands, compelling them to resort to protest.

The association is demanding that the state government direct sugar mills to release pending additional incentives of ₹150 per tonne of sugarcane supplied and to increase the fair and remunerative price to ₹3,400 per tonne for this crushing season. Bhagaraj also accused sugar factories of cheating farmers in weight and measurement.
