Wheat price decreases in grain market, minister told

LAHORE: Punjab Food Minister Bilal Yasin noted a recent decrease in wheat prices across the province and sought recommendations to lower flour bag proportions to ensure these savings benefit consumers. Secretary Food Moazzam Iqbal Sipra confirmed no restrictions on transporting wheat and processed products between provinces. In eight days, 37,000 wheat bags were transported, and 157,844 metric tons of flour were shipped to other provinces this month. Yasin assured efforts to provide relief on flour prices as directed by the chief minister.

LAHORE:In recent days, a decrease in wheat prices has been recorded in grain markets across the province.

Punjab Food Minister Bilal Yasin was briefed by Secretary Food Punjab Moazzam Iqbal Sipra and Food Directorate officers on the prices of wheat and flour. Food Minister Bilal Yasin asked for recommendations to reduce the proportion of flour bags, saying that the benefit of the decrease in wheat and flour prices in the market should be passed on directly to the people.

There is no restriction on the transportation of wheat and processed products from Punjab to other provinces. Secretary Food gave a detailed briefing on the inter-provincial transportation of wheat products.

In eight days, 37,000 bags of wheat were transported from Punjab to other provinces. This month, 124 permits for wheat were issued from various districts, and 7,763 permits for flour were issued from Punjab’s flour mills in one month; 157,844 metric ton flour was transported to other provinces. Bilal Yasin clarified that, on the instructions of the chief minister, every possible relief would be provided to the people in terms of flour prices.
