Sugar mill not to get cane if fails to clear pending dues

District Magistrate Umesh Pratap Singh of Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, has ordered the Maksudapur sugar mill to clear pending cane dues to farmers promptly. At a review meeting, Singh warned of recommending the mill’s exclusion from future sugarcane allocations if payments are delayed. The mill, located in Banda, must present a plan for clearing dues. All other mills in the district have reportedly settled their payments for the year.

Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh: District Magistrate Umesh Pratap Singh directed the management of the Maksudapur sugar mill to clear the pending cane dues of farmers at the earliest, reports Amar Ujala.

He was speaking at a review meeting on sugarcane payment that was held on Monday at the Collectorate chamber.

He warned that if the payments are not made promptly, a letter would be sent to the Sugarcane Commissioner recommending that sugarcane allocation not be granted to the mill for the coming year.

Maksudapur sugar mill, located in Banda, currently has outstanding dues owed to farmers. The DM instructed the mill management to present a detailed plan for clearing the pending payments. He emphasized that the sugar mills should prioritize making payments to the farmers.

District Cane Officer Jitendra Kumar Mishra reported that all other sugar mills in the district have made 100 per cent of the payments to farmers for this year.
