EU crop monitor MARS sharply cuts maize yield forecast
PARIS, Aug 26 (Reuters) -Crop monitoring service MARS on Monday cut its European Union average maize yield forecast to 7.03 metric tons per hectare (t/ha) from its July forecast of 7.24 t/ha citing hot weather in southeast Europe.In a monthly report, MARS also cut its forecast for the EU’s average yield for soft wheat, the most produced cereal in the bloc, to 5.68 t/ha from 5.87 t/ha.
It also cut its forecast for the rapeseed yield this year to 3.07 t/ha from 3.10 t/ha and lowered its forecast on barley to a yield of 5.01 t/ha from 5.09 t/ha.
