Woodland Biofuels invests $1.35B in Louisiana’s Port of South Louisiana for renewable natural gas and ultra-green hydrogen. The project creates 369 jobs, reduces CO2 emissions by 870,000 tonnes/year, and converts waste biomass into sustainable biofuel. Commercial operations begin in 2028, supported by $250M in state incentives, promoting clean energy growth.
Canadian renewable fuel company Woodland Biofuels has announced a $1.35 billion investment to build a renewable natural gas (RNG) plant and an ultra-green hydrogen facility at the Port of South Louisiana. The company specializes in converting waste biomass into sustainable biofuel.
The new facility will be situated at the Globalplex facility within the Port of South Louisiana. The first phase of commercial operations is expected to begin in 2028.
In the first phase of the Woodland project, approximately 210,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide could be eliminated annually, while the second phase could remove nearly 660,000 tonnes, with the carbon stored underground.
To further support the initiative, Louisiana Economic Development plans to provide a package of incentives worth $250 million to Woodland Biofuels. This package will include performance-based grants and comprehensive workforce development solutions.
