‘Green hydrogen is clearly favoured’ | Shell and partners cancel blue H2 project in Norway

Oil major Shell has cancelled its plans for a major blue hydrogen project in Norway, citing a lack of demand for H2 produced from fossil gas with emissions captured and stored.“It is not cost-effective to proceed with the project,” Jan Soppeland, Shell’s director of communications in Norway, told Norwegian media outlet Energi og Klima.

“The market for blue hydrogen is not there, nor are there any signs that the market is on its way to maturing. Green hydrogen is clearly favoured.”
