EIA: Fuel ethanol production down 5%, stocks down 1%, exports down 42%
U.S. fuel ethanol production fell by over 5% for the week ending Sept. 20, averaging 994,000 barrels per day, down from 1.049 million the previous week. Stocks dropped 1% to 23.524 million barrels, while exports plunged 42% to 87,000 barrels per day. Compared to the same week last year, production decreased by 15,000 barrels, but stocks rose by 1.476 million barrels.
U.S. fuel ethanol production fell by more than 5% the week ending Sept. 20, dipping below 1 million barrels per day for the first time since early May, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration on Sept. 25. Stocks were down 1% and exports were down 42%.
Fuel ethanol production averaged 994,000 barrels per day the week ending Sept. 20, down 55,000 barrels per day when compared to the 1.049 million barrels of production reported for the previous week. When compared to the same week of last year, production for the week ending Sept. 20 was down 15,000 barrels per day.
Weekly ending stocks of fuel ethanol fell to 23.524 million barrels, down 261,000 barrels when compared to the 23.785 million barrels of stocks reported for the previous week. When compared to the same week of last year, stocks for the week ending Sept. 20 were up 1.476 million barrels.
Exports of fuel ethanol averaged 87,000 barrels per day the week ending Sept. 20, down 64,000 barrels per day when compared to the 151,000 barrels per day of exports reported for the previous week. When compared to the same week of last year, exports for the week ending Sept. 20 were up 10,000 barrels per day. No fuel ethanol imports were reported for the week ending Sept. 20.
