Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh: Under the banner of the Bharatiya Udyog Ekikaran Vyapar Mandal, a meeting of farmers was held, chaired by farmer leader and trade board vice president Manoj Modanwal. During the meeting, Modanwal emphasised the need to establish a new sugar mill in the district, reported Live Hindustan. He also urged the government to connect Deoria and Kushinagar by railway. Several other members were present at the meeting, including Shatrughan Singh, Rajeshwar Pathak, Sushil Singh, Genda Singh, Phulena Yadav, Sudama Singh, and Virendra Ojha.
Few months ago, the Kushinagar MP, Vijay Dubey, urged for the reopening of the closed sugar mills in Lakshmiganj and Kathkuiyan. He stated that if the malfunctioning machines in these sugar mills were replaced with state-of-the-art equipment, the sugarcane farmers of the district would not have to sell their sugarcane to mills in other districts. He emphasised that this would not only make it easier for farmers to sell their sugarcane but also promote the development of nearby areas and provide employment to local youth.
