Ethanol and Sugar production: Deadline looms for manufacturers
The government has warned sugar mill executives that missing the API integration deadline with the National Sugar Web System (NSWS) by November 20 will result in suspended quotas. Mills without necessary software must comply by December 31, or monthly quotas will stop in January 2025. The data sharing is crucial for ethanol blending, pricing, production, and theft prevention.
The government has issued a stern warning to sugar mill companies authorities, including CEO, CMD, and MD regarding the integration of API for data sharing, emphasising that failure to meet the deadline will result in the suspension of sugar quotas.
All sugar mills are required to connect with the National Sugar Web System (NSWS) by November 20, said the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution.
An order has been placed to upload data for October through this system. Mills lacking the necessary software have until December 31 to comply. Failure to adhere to these deadlines will lead to the discontinuation of monthly quotas starting January 2025.
Currently, only 60 sugar mills, including 11 groups, have successfully completed the API integration process.
The government also stresses that data collection is essential for making informed decisions regarding ethanol blending, pricing reviews, sugar production, and exports.
Additionally, the initiative aims to combat sugar theft and address issues related to by-products.
