EU crop monitor MARS further cuts maize yield forecast
MARS has revised its forecasts for the European Union’s average yields, cutting the maize yield to 6.66 metric tons per hectare from 6.85 t/ha. The sunflower yield forecast has also been lowered to 1.86 t/ha from 1.98 t/ha. Conversely, the sugar beet yield outlook was increased to 75.4 t/ha, up from 74.7 t/ha. No estimates were provided for winter cereals like soft wheat or rapeseed.
ARIS, Oct 28 (Reuters) -Crop monitoring service MARS on Monday cutits European Union average maize yield forecast to 6.66 metric tons per hectare (t/ha) from a revised 6.85 t/ha forecast last month.
In a monthly report, MARS also loweredits forecast for the EU’s average yield for sunflower to 1.86 t/ha from 1.98 t/ha.
For sugar beet, also in the process of being harvested, the MARS service increasedits EU yield outlook to 75.4 t/ha, from 74.7 t/ha projected last month.
MARS did not give estimates for winter cereals such as soft wheat or rapeseed.
