Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced plans to build compressed biogas plants in Uttar Pradesh, using cow dung as the primary resource. The state government will provide land for these projects, which aim to promote sustainable energy and strengthen rural livelihoods, reports The Week.
The announcement was made during a meeting of the Pradeshik Cooperative Dairy Federation at the Chief Minister’s residence. Adityanath emphasized the importance of equipping milk cooperative employees with proper training and tools to improve their efficiency.
He urged milk cooperatives and unions to work closely with villages and farmers to enhance productivity and competitiveness. Farmers will also receive education on breeding better dairy animals and scientific training to boost milk production and increase their earnings.
Highlighting the role of women in the dairy sector, the Chief Minister pointed to the success of the Balinese Milk Producer in Bundelkhand as a model for women’s empowerment. He encouraged more involvement of women in milk cooperatives to help them achieve self-reliance.
Adityanath stressed the need for accountability within milk unions, better milk quality testing, and increased collection capacity. He urged the Dairy Federation to create systems that ensure maximum benefits for farmers, rewarding those who perform well in the sector.
The biogas plants, along with improvements in the dairy industry, reflect the government’s commitment to supporting farmers, empowering women, and adopting sustainable practices in Uttar Pradesh.
