EIA: Ethanol production down 4%, stocks up 1%, exports down 20%

U.S. fuel ethanol production dropped 4% to 1.073 million barrels per day for the week ending Nov. 28, 2024, compared to the prior week’s record 1.119 million barrels. Stocks rose 1% to 23.003 million barrels, while exports fell 20% to 126,000 barrels per day. Exports were 51,000 barrels higher year-on-year, with no imports reported.

U.S. fuel ethanol production fell by 4% the week ending Nov. 29, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration on Dec. 4. Weekly ending stocks of ethanol were up nearly 1% and exports were down 20%. 

Fuel ethanol production averaged 1.073 million barrels per day the week ending Nov. 28, down 46,000 barrels per day when compared to the previous week’s record-setting production of 1.119 million barrels per day. When compared to the same week of last year, production for the week ending Nov. 28 was down 3,000 barrels per day. 

Weekly ending stocks of fuel ethanol expanded to 23.003 million barrels the week ending Nov. 28, up 134,000 barrels when compared to the 22.563 million barrels of stocks reported for the previous week. When compared to the same week of last year, stocks for the week ending Nov. 28 were up 1.564 million barrels. 

Exports of fuel ethanol averaged 126,000 barrels per day the week ending Nov. 28, down 32,000 barrels per day when compared to the 158,000 barrels per day of exports reported for the previous week. When compared to the same week of last year, exports for the week ending Nov. 28 were up 51,000 barrels per day. No imports of fuel ethanol were reported for the week ending Nov. 28.
