Stock market update: Sugar stocks down as Sensex slips
Sugar stocks showed mixed performance on Friday. Top gainers included Ponni Sugars (Erode) Ltd. (+1.14%), Simbhaoli Sugars Ltd. (+0.93%), and Triveni Engineering & Industries Ltd. (+0.60%). Conversely, top losers included Dalmia Bharat Sugar (-2.97%), Dwarikesh Sugar Industries Ltd. (-2.09%), and Balrampur Chini Mills Ltd. (-1.83%). The NSE Nifty50 and BSE Sensex indices were also down.
NEW DELHI: Sugar stocks were trading lower on Friday at 11:26AM Ponni Sugars(Erode)Ltd.(up 1.14%), Simbhaoli Sugars Ltd.(up 0.93%), Sakthi Sugars Ltd.(up 0.67%), Triveni Engineering & Industries Ltd.(up 0.60%), Uttam Sugar Mills Ltd.(up 0.47%), Bannari Amman Sugars Ltd.(up 0.41%), Rajshree Sugars & Chemicals Ltd.(up 0.25%), Mawana Sugars Ltd.(up 0.25%) and KCP Sugar & Industries Corporation Ltd.(up 0.15%) were among the top gainers. Dalmia Bharat Sugar and Industries Ltd.(down 2.97%), Dwarikesh Sugar Industries Ltd.(down 2.09%), Balrampur Chini Mills Ltd.(down 1.83%), Avadh Sugar & Energy Ltd.(down 1.81%), Ugar Sugar Works Ltd.(down 1.40%), Kothari Sugars & Chemicals Ltd.(down 1.28%), Bajaj Hindusthan Sugar Ltd.(down 1.27%), Vishwaraj Sugar Industries Ltd.(down 0.98%), Dhampur Sugar Mills Ltd.(down 0.97%) and EID Parry(India)Ltd.(down 0.96%) were among the top losers.
The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 29.96 points down at 23921.75, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was down 160.07 points at 79057.98 at around 11:26AM. Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd.(up 2.36%), Hindalco Industries Ltd.(up 1.38%), Adani Enterprises Ltd.(up 1.17%), Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd.(up 1.14%), Titan Company Ltd.(up 0.96%), JSW Steel Ltd.(up 0.94%), Asian Paints Ltd.(up 0.9%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd.(up 0.89%), Eicher Motors Ltd.(up 0.87%) and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd.(up 0.77%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.
On the other hand, Axis Bank Ltd.(down 1.66%), Tech Mahindra Ltd.(down 1.56%), UltraTech Cement Ltd.(down 1.52%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd.(down 1.09%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(down 1.08%), IndusInd Bank Ltd.(down 0.8%), Grasim Industries Ltd.(down 0.74%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(down 0.69%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.(down 0.61%) and HCL Technologies Ltd.(down 0.51%) were trading in the red.
