PBS Foods hosts technical training cum meeting on spring planting, ratoon management and mechanization

PBS Foods (Sugar) Pvt. Ltd., Chandpur, Bijnor, hosted a training program on modern sugarcane farming, featuring experts and officials. Key topics included disease management, mechanization, and advanced planting techniques. Farmers were encouraged to adopt innovations like drip irrigation and disease-free seeds to boost productivity and sustainability, ensuring improved livelihoods and long-term growth for the sugarcane industry.

PBS Foods (Sugar) Pvt. Ltd., Unit Chandpur, Bijnor, recently hosted an important technical training session and meeting aimed at empowering local farmers with modern agricultural practices. The program focused on spring planting, ratoon management, and the adoption of mechanization to improve the productivity and sustainability of sugarcane farming. This initiative underscores PBS Foods’ commitment to fostering innovation in agriculture and improving farmers’ livelihoods.

The program was inaugurated by Harpal Singh, Deputy Cane Commissioner, Moradabad, and Swami Shri Omvesh Ji, former Minister of State for Sugarcane, Government of Uttar Pradesh. Their presence highlighted the significance of modernizing agricultural practices to ensure the long-term success and growth of the sugarcane industry in the region. More than 30 industry representatives attended, including the Chairman of the Sugarcane Development Committee, Chandpur, and Shri Manoj Singh, AVP of Wave Industries.

The event also featured prominent experts from the sugarcane industry, such as Dr. Manager Singh, Former Scientist (Entomology), Dr. Sujit Pratap Singh, Scientist-Plant Pathology, and Shri D.S. Reddy, Unit Head of Chandpur. Their participation provided valuable insights into current agricultural challenges and solutions.

Key highlights included a presentation by the Deputy Cane Commissioner, who stressed the need for diversifying sugarcane varieties to combat redrot disease affecting the Co 0238 variety. He emphasized that exploring alternative varieties is critical for the sustainability of sugarcane farming in the region. Dr. Sujit Pratap Singh also shared his expertise on planting techniques, recommending the use of disease-free, two-budded sett seeds to improve germination rates, along with proper seed and soil treatment to promote optimal crop health.

Pradeep Solanki, Development Head at PBS Foods, encouraged the adoption of mechanized farming practices. He noted that mechanization could lower farming costs, increase yields, and ultimately boost productivity.

The event concluded with a session led by Shri Manoj Singh from Wave Industries, which focused on cane development schemes and featured an exhibition of agricultural equipment such as tractors, drip irrigation systems, and other modern farming tools. These technologies are designed to enhance farming efficiency and improve crop yields, providing farmers with greater returns.
