Uttar Pradesh: Farmers refuse to supply sugarcane to sugar mill over pending payments

Farmers in Baheri, Uttar Pradesh, have halted sugarcane supply to Kesar sugar mill due to delayed payments. They plan to send their produce to mills in Mirganj, Pilibhit, and Uttarakhand instead. Farmers demand immediate payment for previous supplies and insist on timely payments per the Sugarcane Act before considering future deliveries.
Baheri, Uttar Pradesh: Farmers in the region have decided to stop supplying sugarcane to Kesar sugar mill, citing delayed payments. They claim that the mill has repeatedly failed to clear their dues, forcing them to find alternative mill, reported Amar Ujala.
Now, instead of Kesar sugar mill, they willing to supplying their sugarcane to the mills of Mirganj and Pilibhit besides the sugar mills of Uttarakhand, farmers claimed. They have demanded that the payments for the sugarcane already supplied be settled immediately.
Ahead of the next harvest season, farmers have asked the sugar mill to enhance its payment policies. Farmers say that payment should be done within the time frame as stipulated in the Sugarcane Act. They have asserted that if the mill does not abide by these regulations, they will not supply sugarcane anymore.
Rakesh Gangwar, Chet Ram, Badri Prasad, Anokhelal, and Sitaram Kashyap are among the farmers who have raised demands for timely payments.
