Uttar Pradesh : 9k litres of suspected adulterated oil seized in Aligarh

Authorities in Aligarh seized 9,000 litres of suspected adulterated edible oil in a raid before Holi, sealing the factory and collecting samples. The administration and food department (FDI) seized 9,000 litres of suspected adulterated refined and edible oil in Aligarh’s Banna Devi police station area on Thursday night.Authorities had received reports of fake refined oil production in the area. During the raid, a large stock of adulterated oil, allegedly meant for sale during Holi, was confiscated, and the factory was sealed after samples were collected. Officials urged people to remain vigilant and report suspicious food-related activities to ensure safety during the festival.Food inspector Priyesh Kumar said an intensive market inspection, based on confidential intelligence, led authorities to a firm involved in adulterated oil production.

A raid uncovered three tanks—two containing soybean oil (about 2.5 tons) and one with rice bran oil—along with a 10-ton pipeline connected to the setup.Six samples were collected, and the entire stock was sealed for further investigation. Initial findings suggest the suspects mixed different oils and sold them as pure products. Officials also discovered that the accused purchased low-quality oil and relabelled it under various reputed brands, including ghee and palm oil. When stickers were removed from containers, multiple brand labels were found underneath.
