Uttar Pradesh: Kairana MP raises sugarcane farmers’ issues in Parliament

​Kairana MP Iqra Hasan has raised concerns in Parliament about unpaid dues to sugarcane farmers in Shamli district, highlighting ongoing protests at Thana Bhawan mill and legal actions against 26 farmers. She also criticized the National Highways Authority of India for not fulfilling its promise to construct a road cut at Bhaju village on the Dehradun Highway.

Shamli, Uttar Pradesh: Ikara Hasan, the Member of Parliament from Kairana, raised issues concerning sugarcane farmers’ outstanding payments, the filing of cases against farmers in Thana Bhawan, and various concerns in the Shamli and Saharanpur districts in Parliament, reported Amar Ujala.

The MP told Parliament that the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) had promised farmers in the Shamli district to build a road cut at Bhaju village on the Dehradun Highway, but they did not fulfill their promise. Sugarcane mills in the Shamli district are not clearing crores of rupees in outstanding payments to farmers. Farmers are staging a sit-in at the Thana Bhawan mill, demanding their pending sugarcane price payments, and the police administration has filed cases against 26 farmers. She demanded that the government ensure farmers receive their rightful dues.
