Minnesotans saved $24 million in 2024 with Unleaded 88
In 2024, Minnesota drivers saved $24.26 million using Unleaded 88, priced 17 cents less per gallon than 87 octane. A record 142.75 million gallons were sold, supported by over 500 stations statewide. Over three years, Unleaded 88 delivered $62.66 million in savings. MN Bio-Fuels will launch a Twin Cities promo campaign, offering prizes and pump savings.
Unleaded 88’s average discount to 87 octane fuel in 2024 yielded $24.26 million in savings at the pump for Minnesota drivers.
According to data from the Minnesota Department of Commerce, Unleaded 88 was priced, on average, 17 cents per gallon less than 87 octane in 2024.
Last year, the annual volume of Unleaded 88 in Minnesota totaled 142.75 million gallons – a new record.
“In partnership with the state of Minnesota, USDA, corn farmers, and fuel retailers, the Minnesota Bio-Fuels Association has been aggressive in helping expand access to higher blends of ethanol fuels like Unleaded 88. These investments are now paying dividends, and Minnesota drivers can be confident that when they visit one of the over 500 retailers offering Unleaded 88 in our state, they will save money,” said Brian Werner, executive director of the Minnesota Bio-Fuels Association (MN Bio-Fuels).
Over a three-year period from 2022 to 2024, Unleaded 88 saved Minnesotans $62.66 million at the pump.
In January of this year, the average price of Unleaded 88 was 15 cents per gallon less than 87 octane, resulting in $1.8 million in savings for Minnesota drivers.
Last year’s record volume of Unleaded 88 sold in Minnesota coincided with the growth in stations offering Unleaded 88 in the state. In late 2024, Minnesota became the first state in the nation to have over 500 Unleaded 88 stations.
Meanwhile, MN Bio-Fuels will launch a seven-month Unleaded 88 promotional campaign at gas stations in the Twin Cities metro area next week.
On April 22, MN Bio-Fuels and KS95 FM will team up at a Holiday station at 7201 Bass Lake Road in New Hope to promote Unleaded 88 from 11 am to 1 pm.
Drivers who fuel up with Unleaded 88 during the promotion will not only save at the pump but win prizes such as $20 in cash, Minnesota United tickets, St Paul Saints tickets, Applebee’s gift cards and other merchandise.
