55.89 Lakh metric tonnes of wheat procured in Haryana so far : Rajesh Nagar


Haryana has procured 55.89 lakh metric tonnes of wheat and 6.23 lakh tonnes of mustard as of April 22. Minister Rajesh Nagar praised the improved lifting process and timely farmer payments totaling over ₹8,000 crore. He emphasized coordinated efforts by agencies and reaffirmed the state’s commitment to farmer welfare under Chief Minister Nayab Singh’s leadership.
Minister of State for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Sh. Rajesh Nagar, held a meeting with department officers on Wednesday. He sought information about timely lifting of grains from the mandis of the state and payment to the farmers.Notably, grain procurement in Haryana began on April 1. Till April 22, a total of 55.89 lakh metric tonnes of wheat has been purchased in the state. Out of this, around 26.36 lakh metric tonnes of wheat has already been lifted. This wheat was bought from approximately 3.43 lakh farmers, and payments worth Rs.5,556.81 crore have been transferred directly into their bank accounts.
Sh. Nagar said that the grain lifting process has improved this year. Last year, by April 22, only 44.53 lakh metric tonnes of wheat had been purchased. This year, it is nearly 11 lakh metric tonnes more. Wheat is being procured through joint efforts of the Food and Civil Supplies Department, HAFED, Haryana Warehousing Corporation, and the Food Corporation of India, he added. The minister further said that mustard procurement is being done by HAFED and Haryana Warehousing Corporation.
As of April 22, 6.23 lakh metric tonnes of mustard have been purchased, and around 4.47 lakh metric tonnes have been lifted. A total of Rs 2,459.04 crore has been deposited into the accounts of farmers for mustard procurement.Sh. Nagar directed the officers to maintain proper arrangements for buying, lifting, and payment for the crops. He said that the state government, under the leadership of Chief Minister, Sh.Nayab Singh, is committed to protecting the interests of farmers.
