4.6 LMT wheat procured in Indore division


Around 45,000 farmers from Indore division (excluding Barwani and Burhanpur) sold 4.69 lakh metric tonnes of wheat to the state government at ₹2,425 MSP plus ₹175 bonus per quintal. Payments are nearly complete, with only 800 farmers pending. About 475 metric tonnes were rejected due to quality issues, and most of the accepted wheat has been transported to storage.
Indore: Around 45,000 farmers from Indore division, except Barwani and Burhanpur, sold about 4.69 lakh metric tonne of wheat to state govt at minimum support price. In the division, 22,611 farmers from Indore, 12,737 from Dhar, 5,631 from Khandwa, 3,905 from Jhabua, 527 from Khargone, and only 81 from Alirajpur, sold their crops to the state govt, states an official report on wheat procurement carried out across the state. As per the records, no farmers from Barwani and Burhanpur are on this list of wheat procurement since they are hardly engaged in wheat farming in these two districts. This year, the state govt set a minimum support price of Rs 2425 and a Rs 175 bonus per quintal for wheat procurement. Around 475 metric tonne of wheat were rejected during the procurement process for failing to meet quality parameters. Almost all the purchased crop has been transported to storage facilities, a senior official said. The state govt has started making payments to farmers after adjusting their loan amounts taken for farming. By Tuesday, only around 800 farmers were left to receive the payment into their accounts, the senior official said, adding that payment to the remaining farmers would be completed in a day or two.
