Tamil Nadu : Villupuram Sugarcane farmers get support price for 2024-25 season
In Villupuram, 3,543 sugarcane farmers received a support price of ₹349 per tonne for supplying 2.28 lakh metric tonnes to the government cooperative mill in the 2024–25 season. The district administration confirmed ₹7.95 crore was disbursed directly into farmers’ accounts.
Villupuram: Sugarcane farmers who supplied produce to the government cooperative sugar mill have received the support price for their crop, the district administration confirmed, reports The Hinduu.
For the 2024–25 season, around 2.28 lakh metric tonnes of sugarcane were procured from 3,543 farmers in the district. The Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare had set a support price of ₹349 per tonne.
In total, ₹7.95 crore was allocated and deposited into the accounts of the eligible farmers.
