Argentina’s wheat harvest forecast is set to be even higher than the previous record.
Argentina’s wheat production is now forecast at a record 24.5 million tons, up 1.5 million tons from October and surpassing the previous high of 23 million tons. The upgrade follows improved yields supported by better rainfall and stronger farmer investment in seed quality and disease control. Corn and soybean estimates remain unchanged at 61 million and 47 million tons. A record wheat crop may restrain global price gains by boosting supplies.
Analysts at the Rosario Grain Exchange have raised their forecast for wheat production in Argentina to 24.5 million tons, which is 1.5 million tons higher than the October estimate and the previous record of 23 million tons set four years ago, Reuters reports.
The forecast increase reflects expectations of higher yields than previously predicted. This optimism is driven by higher average precipitation during the critical period of crop development, as well as significant investments by farmers in wheat cultivation technologies, particularly in improving seed quality and disease protection.
Regarding the corn and soybean harvest in Argentina for the 2025/26 season, exchange analysts left their estimates unchanged – 61 million tons and 47 million tons, respectively.
Rising wheat production could limit potential increases in grain prices on world markets as a record harvest tightens global supplies.
