Russian corn exports to China triple in 2025

Russia sharply increased grain exports to China in 2025, led by record corn shipments of 444,000 tons, nearly tripling year-on-year. Buckwheat and oats exports also hit highs. In contrast, wheat exports plunged to post-2022 lows, while barley shipments declined by one-third.

In 2025, Russia exported a record 444.000 tons of corn to China, 2.9 times more than a year earlier. In value terms, shipments totaled $107.6 million, RIA Novosti reported, citing data from China’s General Administration of Customs.

“In addition, Russia last year increased shipments of buckwheat to China to a historic high of 255.1 thousand tons (+11.5%, worth $68.2 million) and oats to 238.9 thousand tons (+5%, worth $54.5 million),” the report said.

At the same time, imports of other grain crops declined overall. Wheat shipments saw the sharpest drop, falling 5.7 times in volume to a post-2022 low of 60.6 thousand tons ($13.8 million), compared with 345.8 thousand tons ($87.3 million) a year earlier.

Barley supplies also fell over the year, down by one-third to 518.9 thousand tons ($111.2 million).
