US grain exports to the EU hit record high in 2025

U.S. grain exports to the EU hit a record $1.3 billion in January–November 2025, up 2.5 times year-on-year. Corn dominated shipments, followed by wheat and sorghum. Spain led EU imports, with strong demand also from Italy, Portugal, Ireland and the Netherlands.

U.S. grain exports to the European Union surged in January–November 2025, reaching their highest value on record, according to calculations based on data from the U.S. statistical service.

During the 11-month period, American companies shipped $1.3 billion worth of grain to the EU, up from $523.5 million a year earlier. This represents a 2.5-fold year-on-year increase in export value.

The total marked the highest level since at least 1992, as earlier data are not available.

Corn accounted for the largest share of shipments at $1.04 billion, followed by wheat and meslin at $136.9 million, and grain sorghum at $131.4 million.

Spain was the largest buyer of U.S. grain in the EU with imports totaling $741.7 million, followed by Italy at $212.9 million and Portugal at $194.5 million. Ireland ($98.1 million) and the Netherlands ($55.9 million) rounded out the top five.
