China Receives First Wheat Shipment from Argentina
China has received its first-ever shipment of Argentine wheat, a 70,000-tonne cargo purchased by COFCO International. The move opens a new trade corridor, diversifies China’s grain import sources, and strengthens food security, with the wheat set for distribution to domestic flour millers.
China received its first shipment of Argentine wheat on February 10, according to market operators citing World Grain. The delivery marks an important step in the country’s efforts to diversify its grain import sources.
The cargo totaled 70,000 tonnes and was purchased by COFCO International. The wheat will be distributed among domestic flour milling companies.
COFCO said the shipment officially opens a new trade corridor between China and Argentina and will help strengthen China’s food security.
The company added it will continue to deepen cooperation with major grain-producing countries to support the stability and resilience of global food supply chains.
