Madhya Pradesh : Cabinet nod to wheat bonus, Rewa irrigation project
Madhya Pradesh has approved a ₹40 per quintal bonus on wheat procurement for the 2026–27 rabi season, in addition to the minimum support price. The state cabinet also cleared a ₹228.42 crore micro-irrigation project in Rewa aimed at expanding irrigation across 7,350 hectares and supporting agricultural productivity.
Bhopal: The state cabinet has cleared a Rs 40 per quintal bonus on wheat procurement for the 2026-27 rabi season, and approved a Rs 228.42 crore micro irrigation project in Rewa. The bonus will be paid over the minimum support price.The Panwar Micro Irrigation Project will span 7,350 hectares and cover 37 villages in Jawa and Tyonthar tehsils of Rewa district. A major share of spending will flow through the Public Works Department, with the cabinet meeting, chaired by CM Mohan Yadav clearing Rs 4,525 crore for development and maintenance works, including a four-lane elevated corridor from Chimanganj Mandi (Indira Nagar) intersection to Indore Gate in Ujjain city and a two-lane elevated corridor from Nikas intersection to Indore Gate, totalling 5.32 km in length. Another Rs 7.38 crore has been approved for the continuation of Madhya Pradesh Road Development Programme from April 1, 2026 to March 31, 2028, and Rs 50.10 crore has been approved for continuation of the bridge and road construction scheme funded by New Development Bank (NDB).Also, Rs 1,543 crore has been approved for the continuation of Madhya Pradesh Road Development Programme-6 from April 1, 2026 to March 31, 2031, and another Rs 1,476 crore has been approved for the continuation of Madhya Pradesh Road Development Programme-7 from April 1, 2026 to March 31, 2031.
Briefing reporters after the cabinet meeting, MSME minister Chaitanya Kashyap said Rs 200.35 crore has been approved for the maintenance and upkeep of govt residential houses and rest houses. An amount of Rs 300 crore has been approved for the maintenance of office buildings, the maintenance of Satpura and Vindhyachal buildings, and the operation and maintenance of the Shaurya Smarak in Bhopal for the period between April 1, 2026 and March 31, 2031.The cabinet approved amendments to the Madhya Pradesh Work (Allocation) Rules, placing the Madhya Pradesh Stores Purchase and Service Procurement Rules under the Finance Department. The allocation of the Madhya Pradesh Stores Purchase and Service Procurement Rules from the MSME department to the Finance Department will not impose any financial burden on the state.Besides, the cabinet approved an amendment to the schedule of the Madhya Pradesh Business (Allocation) Rules.
