India allocates 8606 MTRV raw cane sugar quota to USA for fiscal year 2026
India allocated an 8,606 metric tonne raw sugar export quota to the United States under the Tariff Rate Quota scheme for fiscal year 2026. APEDA will manage implementation, while DGFT Mumbai will issue certificates of origin for eligible exporters.
The Directorate General of Foreign Trade has allocated a quota of 8606 metric tonnes raw value of raw cane sugar for export to the United States under the Tariff Rate Quota scheme for the American fiscal year 2026, covering the period from October 1, 2025 to September 30, 2026. The allocation was notified through Public Notice No. 12/2026-2027 dated May 22, 2026, issued under the powers conferred by Paragraph 2.04 of the Foreign Trade Policy, 2023.
As per Notification No. 3/2015-20 dated April 20, 2015, sugar exports under the Harmonised System Code 17010000 to the United States and the European Union under the Tariff Rate Quota scheme are categorised as free, subject to the conditions laid out in the Nature of Restrictions provisions of that notification.
The Certificate of Origin required for preferential sugar exports to the United States will be issued by the Additional Director General of Foreign Trade, Mumbai, based on recommendations from the Agriculture and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority regarding eligible exporters and quantities. Any other certification requirements specifically prescribed for sugar exports to the United States will continue to be followed as before.
The Agriculture and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority, New Delhi, has been designated as the implementing agency for managing and operating the quota for Tariff Rate Quota items destined for the United States. Reporting requirements as outlined under Notification No. 3/2015-2020 dated April 20, 2015, read with Notification No. 20 dated September 7, 2015, will also continue to apply.
