Ukrainian wheat continues to decline in price – APK-Inform
Ukraine’s wheat prices continued to fall last week as the harvest campaign accelerated, export prices weakened and trading activity slowed. Prices for milling and feed wheat declined in both the domestic and port markets, while farmers held back high-quality grain in anticipation of better prices.
According to analysts at APK-Inform, wheat prices on the Ukrainian market continued to decline last week.
“The factors weighing on the market remained unchanged, including the corresponding trend on the export market, the start of the harvest campaign in Ukraine and slower trading activity. Demand from some processors remained strong, so they did not significantly revise their prices. However, farmers were generally reluctant to sell high-quality wheat, expecting more favorable market conditions,” the report said.
Prices for second-grade milling wheat and feed wheat fell by UAH 100-500 per ton over the week, to UAH 9,200-10,700 per ton CPT and UAH 8,500-10,000 per ton CPT, respectively. The lowest bid prices were recorded for new-crop wheat.
At Ukrainian ports, prices for milling and feed wheat declined by $6-11 per ton to $202-209 per ton CPT port and $188-199 per ton CPT port, respectively.
