ESY 2025-26: OMCs receive 101.7 crore litres of ethanol in June; ethanol blending remains at 20%
India’s ethanol blending programme continues to strengthen, with OMCs achieving the 20% blending target by blending 743 crore litres during ESY 2025-26 (till June). In June alone, 98.3 crore litres were blended, supporting reduced crude imports and improved energy security.
India’s ethanol blending programme is gaining momentum with the OMCs receiving ethanol as per requirement and achieving the blending targets set by the government.
The Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have received 101.7 crore litres of ethanol in June 2026 under the Ethanol Blending Petrol (EBP) programme. According to the official data total 98.3 crore litres of ethanol was blended into petrol in June 2026. According to government sources, the ethanol blending in petrol has reached 20 per cent in November 2025. Apart from this, the OMCs have storage of 84.6 crore litres of ethanol for June 2026.
The EBP programme is reshaping the nation’s energy landscape while boosting economic development and promoting sustainable growth in rural areas.
In the previous ESY 2024–25, OMCs blended 1,022.4 crore litres of ethanol, achieving a average blending level of 19.2 per cent. In ESY 2023-24, OMCs blended 707.4 crore litres of ethanol achieving average blending level of 14.6 per cent.
This accelerated progress has helped reduce dependence on imported crude oil, resulting in significant foreign exchange savings and strengthening India’s transition towards a cleaner and more self-reliant energy future.
The OMCs have received a total 717.3 crore litres of ethanol for blending in ESY 2025-26 till June. ESY starts from November 1 and ends on October 31. During the same period the OMCs have blended total 743 crore litres of ethanol achieving 20 per cent blending target.
