Kazakhstan harvested the first 634 thousand tons of grain from the 2026 crop, with yields significantly higher than last year
Kazakhstan has launched its 2026 harvest, producing 634,000 tonnes of grain by July 20 with average yields of 20.6 c/ha, up 70% year-on-year. Wheat and barley yields improved sharply, while the government allocated 401,000 tonnes of subsidized diesel for harvesting.
Kazakhstan has begun its large-scale harvest campaign. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, as of July 20, farmers in the Almaty, West Kazakhstan, Zhambyl, Kostanay, Kyzylorda, North Kazakhstan and Turkistan regions, as well as the Zhetysu region and the city of Shymkent, had started harvesting.
To date, 634 thousand tons of grain have been harvested. The average yield stands at 20.6 c/ha, almost 1.7 times higher than on the corresponding date last year (12.2 c/ha).
Wheat production has reached 461.2 thousand tons, with an average yield of 19.1 c/ha. By comparison, the average yield on the corresponding date last year stood at 13.7 c/ha.
Barley production has reached 157.8 thousand tons. The average yield stands at 17.0 c/ha, almost twice as high as last year (8.7 c/ha).
The country’s agricultural sector has 133.9 thousand tractors, about 5.6 thousand high-capacity seeding units, 71.4 thousand seed drills and 188.5 thousand tillage implements.
To ensure the harvest campaign is carried out on time, the government has allocated about 401 thousand tons of subsidized diesel fuel.
