Rize raises $31 million to scale low-emission rice farming; eyes India expansion
Rize plans to expand its low-emission rice farming platform into new markets, including India, after raising $31 million. Using AI, remote sensing, alternate wetting and drying, and carbon certification, it aims to reach 300,000 hectares and 150,000 smallholder farmers by 2030.
Rize is looking to expand its low-emission rice farming model beyond its existing markets in Southeast Asia, with India among the countries under consideration.
The sustainable agriculture platform, which recently raised $31 million, is using alternate wetting and drying techniques, artificial intelligence, remote sensing and carbon certification to reduce methane emissions from rice cultivation.
The company currently works with 17,000 farmers across more than 50,000 hectares and is targeting 300,000 hectares and 150,000 smallholder farmers by 2030. Rize is also exploring a platform model that could allow other partners to use its technology and operating model.
