Edible oil imports up 4.5% in November-August 2025-26
India’s edible oil imports increased 4.56% year-on-year to 136.19 lakh tonnes during November-August 2025-26. Palm oil imports rose to 65.34 lakh tonnes, while soybean oil reached 45.61 lakh tonnes and sunflower oil 25.15 lakh tonnes.
India’s edible oil imports registered a 4.56 per cent growth during the first 10 months of the oil year 2025-26 (November-October) driven by an increase in the import of palm oil and soybean oil.
Data compiled by the Solvent Extractors’ Association of India (SEA) showed that India imported 136.19 lakh tonne (lt) of edible oil during November-August of the oil year 2025-26 against 130.24 lt in the corresponding period of 2024-25.
India’s palm oil imports (including crude palm oil and RBD palmolein) increased to 65.34 lt during the first 10 months of the oil year 2025-26 from 61.47 lt in the corresponding period of the previous oil year. During the period, soybean oil imports increased to 45.61 lt (44.64 lt) and sunflower oil imports to 25.15 lt (24 lt).
