Ukraine urges Baltic ports not to handle Russian grain exports
Ukraine has called for restricting Russian grain exports through Baltic ports amid disruptions to Black Sea logistics. Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha also urged broader limits on Russian products and technologies in Europe to strengthen sanctions pressure.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has called for preventing Baltic ports from being used to export Russian grain. He made the statement during a joint press conference with Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski.
According to Sybiha, amid the situation in the Black Sea, Russia is trying to make greater use of the Baltic route to ship grain to foreign markets. Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry believes such opportunities should be restricted.
The foreign minister also raised the issue of broader restrictions on Russian products in the European market. According to him, Europe should reduce Russia’s economic presence and strengthen sanctions pressure.
Sybiha separately called for limiting Russia’s access to technologies and resources that could be used in military production.
The use of Baltic ports for Russian grain exports has recently attracted additional attention amid logistics problems in the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov.
