Global vegetable oil prices declined
Vegetable oil prices declined as weaker crude oil prices and uncertainty over US-China soybean tariff reductions weighed on soybean oil demand expectations. Palm oil also faced limited buying from India and China, with Malaysian palm oil prices falling $12 to $1,196.75/tonne during September 18–24.
Vegetable oil prices moved lower, pressured by weaker crude oil prices and the lack of a concrete agreement between the US and China on reducing import tariffs on US soybeans.
This has weighed on soybean oil demand expectations and the broader vegetable oil complex.
Palm oil also remains under pressure from a lack of consistent buying interest from key importers, particularly India and China, limiting the market’s ability to sustain price gains. Malaysian palm oil prices fell by USD 12 over the week (September 18-24) to USD 1,196.75/mt.
