13 LMT sugar quota fixed for first fortnight of November 2026
The Food Ministry has fixed India’s domestic sugar sales quota at 13 lakh tonnes for November 1–15, 2026, marking the fifth fortnightly allocation. Mills that began crushing in October can also sell their October-produced sugar in November. The October quota totalled 30 lakh tonnes.
New Delhi: The Food Ministry on October 30 has fixed the domestic sugar sales quota at 13 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) for the first fortnight of November 2026.
This is the fifth fortnightly quota announced by the government since it shifted from the monthly allocation system to fortnightly quotas.
The allocation will be effective from November 1 to November 15, 2026, according to the latest order.
Additionally, sugar mills which have commenced crushing during October 2026 are permitted to sell the sugar produced during October in November 2026.
For October 2026, the government had allocated a total sugar quota of 30 LMT, comprising 14 LMT for the first fortnight and 16 LMT for the second fortnight. In comparison, the government had allocated a monthly quota of 24 LMT for domestic sugar sales in October 2025.
In September 2026, the total allocation stood at 26.50 LMT, with 13 LMT allotted for the first fortnight and 13.50 LMT for the second.
The fortnightly allocation system allows the government to regulate sugar supplies in the domestic market through periodic quotas. The mechanism is aimed at ensuring adequate availability and limiting sharp fluctuations in domestic prices, with allocations taking into account prevailing market conditions and demand.
