Sugarcane Season: Sugarcane season in danger due to heavy rains
Solapur News: Expectations of heavy rains are failing in almost every constellation during this monsoon season. It has been a month and a half since the onset of monsoon, but it is raining lightly and drizzling. Due to this, there is a possibility of endangering the agricultural economy.
This year’s harvest season in Solapur district, which has the largest number of sugar mills in the state, is in danger. At present, the sugarcane standing in the field has started burning due to lack of water, and as the farmers do not have the courage to plant new crops, there is an atmosphere of anxiety about the next season.
For this season, the Agriculture Department has estimated that sugarcane is available on 240 thousand 957 hectares. Sugarcane on 4 lakh 38 thousand hectares has been registered with the private and cooperative sugar mills of the district for sugarcane this season. Most of the farmers register the same sugarcane to different factories.
Due to this sugarcane records are more with the sugar mills. Taking into consideration the sugarcane record from the sugar mills and the information available with the Agriculture Department, the Regional Sugar Joint Director’s Office has fixed an area of 240,000 hectares for sugarcane for this season.
Factories which were closed last season or less filtered are likely to start this season. Adinath Cooperative Sugar Factory in Karmala Taluka, Yedeshwari (Aryan) Sugar in Barshi Taluka, Swami Samarth Cooperative Sugar Factory in Akkalot Taluka are likely to start this season.
The sugarcane crop has reduced due to rains. Use of sugarcane as fodder has been started. At present, as the sugarcane receives water, it is likely to affect the weight of the sugarcane.
Now focus on Pushya Nakshatra
Rains have disappointed in both the Mrig and Ardra constellations in June this year. The rains made a more or less minimal appearance in the ongoing Punarvasu Nakshatra. As there is no consistency in this rain, it has affected the sowing of kharip. Pushya Nakshatra is starting from Thursday (20th). Heavy rain is expected in this constellation.
