CM meets Modi, seeks rice for Anna Bhagya
BENGALURU: CM Siddaramaiah met PM Narendra Modi at the Sansad Bhavan in Delhi on Thursday. This was Siddaramaiah’s first meeting with Modi after assuming charge as the CM in May. He gifted a sandalwood Ambari (howdah) elephant to the PM, along with a traditional Mysuru ‘peta.
During the meeting, CM Siddaramaiah requested the PM to supply rice through central gvernment agencies in order to support the Karnataka government’s Anna Bhagya scheme that has promised to provide 10kg of rice for free to all BPL families. He also sought increased funding for the MNREGA scheme and irrigation projects under Jal Jeevan Mission.
He also met defence minister Rajnath Singh later in the day at the Parliament House and requested that he grant approval for a fly-past in Mysuru during the Dasara festival celebrations. He also met Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman at her office and held talks to iron out the financial issues between the state and the Centre, tnn
