A big gift to the farmers of UP! Now these crops will get the benefit of crop insurance

Good news for Uttar Pradesh farmers! The Yogi government has included 9 new Zaid season crops—groundnut, maize, moong, urad, papaya, litchi, watermelon, muskmelon, and amla—in the crop insurance scheme and Kisan Credit Card (KCC). This will offer farmers affordable loans and insurance benefits against natural disasters. Additionally, Makhana cultivation will be promoted with easy loans, and cattle farmers will receive subsidies under the Chief Minister’s Gau-Samvardhan Yojana.

There is good news for the farmers of Uttar Pradesh! Yogi government has taken a big step in the interest of the farmers of the state and has included 9 new crops of Zaid season in the scope of crop insurance scheme and Kisan Credit Card (KCC). Now farmers will be able to get relief on crops like groundnut, maize, moong, urad, papaya, litchi, watermelon, muskmelon and amla in times of weather or other natural disasters.

Kisan Credit Card gives cheaper loan, interest rebate

The benefit of linking these crops to KCC will be given to the farmers in the form of loans at cheap interest rates. The special thing is that if the farmers repay the loan on time, they will also be given an additional discount of 3% in interest. To provide relief from financial tension for farming, the central government has also increased the limit of Kisan Credit Card to ₹ 5 lakh. In such a situation, farming will now become easier and more profitable for the farmers of UP than before.

Now compensation will be given in natural disaster

The second big advantage of this decision of the government is that if the crop is damaged due to disasters like rain, drought, flood or hailstorm, then the farmer will get compensation under insurance. This will compensate for the loss and the farmer will be financially secure.

Makhana farmers will get separate benefits

The Yogi government has also decided to promote the cultivation of Makhana. Loan facility will be provided to farmers by including Makhana in the scale of finance. Farmers can now get easy loans for Makhana cultivation along with Kharif and Rabi crops.

40% subsidy on indigenous cows, relief in poultry scheme too

The government has also given a big relief to cattle farmers. Under the Chief Minister’s Swadeshi Gau-Samvardhan Yojana, up to 40% of the cost will be given as subsidy on setting up a unit of Gir, Sahiwal, Haryana and Tharparkar breed cows. Also, under the Backyard Poultry Scheme, 50-50 chicks will be distributed free of cost to 25 beneficiaries in every development block.
